IN THE PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Hi All,
For all of you who missed the tournament …..you should have been
there! It was such a wonderful feeling to be able to throw out that
one miserable game. I want you to know I did not come in last place
this month!
Seriously you missed the huge “cakes” one each 4 and 1 along with
chips and salsa. The house was extremely gracious, they have done a
great deal of work since last we bowled there. Some folks bowled
very well from what we were hearing .
We trust we will see you at Valley View for the Singles
Championship tournament and, remember ladies we have a Board Meeting
at 10:00 a.m. See you there.

What a nice time we had at La Habra for our Birthday Party.
The deadline has come and gone for submitting your scores for the
year. This is the finalized list of winners. Awards will be
presented at the Annual Open Meeting and Elections. And now it’s
time to start sending in your new scores - those bowled after August
1st.
We have received the entries for the San Fernando Valley
Inter-Association Team Trio Tournament to be held on Sunday, October
26. Since we are hosting the event next year we would like to have
as many teams this year as we can get together. If you have a team
or are interested in getting on a team, please call me: (714)
554-6908. This has always been a really FUN tournament.

500 CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS
COMING UP AT THE NOVEMBER MEETING
Are you interested in running for a position on our Board of
Directors? This year we will elect President, 2nd Vice President,
Sergeant-at-Arms and (5) FIVE Directors. If you are interested and
would like more information, please talk with any Board Member. You
will need to submit a short resume of your bowling history,
including any leagues you have participated in or any league offices
you may have held, to Sandy Hingst, our Nominating Chairperson. You
can email her at slhhome@att.net or call her at (714) 639-2386. She
will be glad to help you with your resume. All resumes must be
submitted by October 1st.

I’m sorry I had to miss the Birthday Celebration but I really
want to thank Gracie for the wonderful job she did with the
Tournament; and BJ and Romy for taking care of the Birthday Party.
It looks like you had plenty of cake to go around! I truly
appreciate being part of a Board that pulls together for the good of
our Club!
This month will be our Singles Championship and the entries are
included. I will hope to see you all at Valley View Lanes on the
13th. Until then…

After receiving complaints and suggestions from many of you, your
Board of Directors voted in June to change your handicap base. From
now until August 1, 2009, your handicap will be 100% of 214. It was
decided to base the handicap each year (8/1 - 7/31) on the highest
entering average for a Booster as of 8/1. That is currently a 214.
It will remain 214 for the year, even if someone new joins with a
higher average.
