FROM YOUR VERY BUSY PRESIDENT,
GRACIE HASTINGS
To all of you who attended our Invitational, thank you for
coming, hope you had the best time. This is normally our Mother’s
Day tournament so we had lots of flowers to give away and they were
a big hit. I was glad to see so many ladies and gentlemen from our
visiting 500 Clubs receive flowers. I did notice that lots of
Boosters had their names called. The first couple received giggles,
but it’s ok guys, you deserve flowers too!
I will not be at the next two (2) tournaments. State does not
bowl on June 13th, but I have a retreat that I didn’t get to go to
last year, and darn it, I’m going this year! I will most definitely
be working the State Tournament on the day of our July event.
We still need workers to man (woman) the State 500 Club
tournament. The job is really easy. Several of us met with Gloria on
May 23rd to go over what is entailed. Gloria will be at the
tournament for opening weekend and most of our Board will be bowling
the Opening Squad. Thank you Gloria, for being there for us the
first couple days!

PHYLLIS DODGE...
We had a nice turnout for our Invitational. Thanks to everyone
who bowled and especially to those who brought something good for
our Hospitality Room. The tournament was truly a success and all our
guests seemed to have a good time. It was nice to see so many old
friends at the opening squad of State Tournament.
Mark your calendars and don’t forget the OC USBC 2009 Senior
Singles Tournament. It will be at Saddleback Lanes on July 25th and
26th. There are squads at 11:00am and 2:00pm. Cost is $25 for 4
games. Come out and bowl with us.

WE NEED YOUR HELP Our 500 Club is manning the
table for the State 500 Club at Yorba Linda Bowl every Saturday and
Sunday from now through August. There are squads on Saturday and
Sunday. The job itself is really easy—and can be explained to you in
a 5 minute conversation but we really need lots of volunteers. If
you can help, please call Cindy Bender at the number provided for
her on your yellow pocket schedule, or shoot her an email at
cindy_b@peoplepc.com. She
will make sure you get all the information you need and will be
happy to add your name to her list. And we will all appreciate your

FROM TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR

We were pleased to welcome bowlers from Inter-City 500 Club, Long
Beach 500 Club, and San Fernando Valley 500 Club to our Rock ‘N Bowl
Invitational. We missed our friends from San Gabriel Valley but they
were having a tournament that day. They did call to make sure we
didn’t take them off our mailing list. They said they have so much
fun at our events they don’t want to miss out! Thanks to BJ and Romy
for the great job they did, and thanks to everyone else who pitched
in. And a special thanks to Chris Solis—he is the young man who
works at Yorba Linda Bowl and helps us so much. He is a great kid
and just jumps in and does whatever is needed. His 500 Club ladies
adore him!
Next Saturday we will be at Linbrook for our Summer Fun
Singles—details are on the first page. Come on out and hone your
bowling skills—we won’t laugh at you, we’ll laugh with you! Hope to
see you all there.
Thanks to everyone who came out and bowled opening squad of the
Women’s State Tournament. You could tell how much it meant to Jim
and Betty. Please join me in giving them a huge “THANK YOU” for the
cool shirts they gave each of us. We will wear them proudly! If you
didn’t bowl you missed out on a great day!
